आदौ राम तपोवनादि गमनं, हत्वा मृगं कांचनम्।
वैदीहीहरणं जटायुमरणं, सुग्रीवसंभाषणम्।।
बालीनिर्दलनं समुद्रतरणं, लंकापुरीदाहनम्।
पश्चाद् रावण कुम्भकर्ण हननम्, एतद्धि रामायणम्।।
Aadau rama tapovanadi gamanam, hatwa mrigam kaanchanam
Vaidehiharanam jatayumaranam, sugreevasambhashnam
Baalinirdalanam samudrataranam, lankapuridaahanam
Pashchad ravan kumbhakarna hananam, atatddhi Ramayanam
Meaning: This single verse briefly encapsulates the essence of the entire Ramayan. It narrates the pivotal events of Lord Rama’s exile to the forest, where he encounters a captivating golden deer, pursued and ultimately slayed it. Following this, Ravana kidnaps Mother Sita. In a valiant effort to rescue her, Jatayu, a noble member of the bird kingdom, sacrifices his life in combat against Ravana. Subsequently, on his quest to find Sita, Lord Rama forms a crucial alliance with Sugriva, forging a steadfast friendship.
To fulfill his commitment to friendship, Lord Rama defeats Sugriva’s malevolent brother, Bali. Sugriva reciprocates by aiding Lord Rama in the quest for Mother Sita. Hanuman, carrying out a pivotal role, reaches Lanka and ignites a destructive fire in Ravana’s golden city. The subsequent war results in the demise of Ravana and his brother Kumbhakaran. Thus, in a concise manner, this verse outlines the key events that form the summary of the entire Ramayan.
Benefits and Rituals to Follow: As “Ek Shloki Ramayan” is simple and short, one can recite this to attain the equivalent benefits of reciting the entire Ramayan. Adhering to specific guidelines is crucial when reciting this verse. Begin by taking a bath and donning clean attire. Sit on a seat made of Kush grass, and focus your meditation on Lord Rama. Chant the verse using a Rudraksha rosary. Follow these rituals to enhance the spiritual significance of the recitation.

Although this mantra should be chanted 108 times but if it is not possible then this mantra can be recited 7, 14 or 21 times as well.
